Powerful and precise: the accu-jet® S pipette controller from BRAND

In many laboratories, pipette controllers are indispensable for daily tasks in cell culture labs, pharmaceutical labs, and chemistry labs. These instruments are subject to distinctly different requirements depending on the application: splitting cells in cell culture often requires maximum power when aspirating and dispensing, while media exchange requires delicate handling to prevent detaching adherent cells from their substrate. In analytical applications, the power of the instrument must be adjusted to the volume of bulb and graduated pipettes, in order to be able to set the meniscus quickly and, above all, precisely.

Frequently Asked Questions (Pipetting aids)

Is the membrane filter autoclavable?

The membrane filter is autoclavable up to 5 times at 121 °C (2 bar) with a holding time of at least 15 minutes.

What is the purpose of the small blow-out bellows?

When using blow-out pipettes the last drops in the tip of the pipette must be dispensed, as well. To do so the small blow-out bellows should be pressed once as soon as the meniscus in the pipette tip comes to a standstill. If other pipette types are used, the residue has to remain in the pipette tip to have the correct volume dispensed. The blow-out bellows should then only be used to blow out residual liquid after the work is done.

What should be done if the pipette drips in the accu-jet® pro?

If the filter is not properly positioned (with the larger diameter fitting in the silicone pipette adapter), please insert the filter properly. If this action does not lead to a solution, check if adapter or valve system are damaged and replace the items if necessary.

What can be done if the accu-jet® pro does not properly hold the pipette?

Please check if adapter is dirty or damaged. Eventually clean or replace the adapter.

What should be done if the pipette has been overfilled with the macro?

The adapter has to be cleaned and the membrane filter has to be replaced. Wear protective gloves and eye protection. Avoid the risk of contamination! Pull out the pipette, unscrew the adapter support, pull out the membrane filter, and remove adapter from adapter support by pushing it upwards. To clean adapter, carefully rinse it by using an appropriate compatible solvent (e.g., water) in a wash bottle. Blow out the liquid and allow to dry completely.. Place the new membrane filter with the thicker end facing downwards into the adapter (with the smaller conical side up). Screw in the adapter support hand tight and autoclave if necessary. Consult the Manual to see the instruction with illustrations!

Which modes for dispensing can be selected at the accu-jet® pro?

Select mode Switch up: Gravity-delivery Switch down: ▼ Blow-out (with motor power)

How should the macro be cleaned?

When properly used, the instrument is maintenance-free. If necessary, the housing can be wiped down with a damp cloth.

Can the accu-jet® pro be used during recharging?

Yes, the instrument can be used during recharging. During recharging, the LED on the instruments lights up continuously. When the recharging is completed the LED flashes every 15 seconds.

Is the macro autoclavable?

The entire instrument incl. membrane filter is autoclavable at 121 °C (2 bar) with a holding time of at least 15 minutes according to DIN EN 285. Before autoclaving the instrument must be cleaned carefully. For autoclaving remove suction bellows.
